Helping Children Evolve from Surviving to Thriving

Child Therapist in Westlake Village, California

What are kids telling you when they are ‘acting out’?

As much as we try to protect our children from experiencing pain and suffering, things happen that are outside of our control.

Parental conflict, divorce, bullying, accidents, disasters, grief/loss, illnesses, various forms of abuse, medical procedures, community violence, etc.

Unfortunately, traumatic experiences are all too common.

More than 2/3 of children age 16 and younger have experienced at least one traumatic event in their life-time.*

Despite our best efforts, things can happen to our kids. Things that leave them feeling sad, angry, scared.

Kids often don’t have the words to express what’s going on inside them, so they SHOW us through their behavior. Tantrums, aggression, withdrawal, isolation, anger outbursts, nervousness/anxiety, school refusal, perfectionism.

As a parent, you feel lost. You don’t know how to help.

More than anything, you want your child to be happy, content, and safe.

Kids don’t come with a handbook. There are so many variables in life that it’s impossible to know how to handle them all.

You need help to understand how to best support your kid.

Luckily, you found me… and I know how to help! I happen to have spent years working with kids and teens work through all sorts of adverse life experiences.

Using a gentle approach, I create a sense of safety that allows kids to feel comfortable. Then, we use play, art, and movement to give them a comfortable way to express what’s going on inside.

Using effective techniques, from therapeutic models, such as EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, DBT, and CBT, I help kids process their past experiences, heal, let go of all the icky feelings they’ve been holding inside, learn from them, and become stronger.

Time to start helping your child today.
